Conor McGregor Opens up on the Thrill of Joining the UFC
Conor McGregor is a man of many accomplishments.
The Ireland-born former champion became the first man in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously, end Jose Aldo's then-10-year unbeaten streak, and cross over into boxing against the Sweet Science's perfect counterpart, Floyd Mayweather Jr. while representing MMA.
McGregor has been out of competition since July 2021 when he lost back-to-back UFC main events to Dustin Poirier --- suffering a horrific leg injury that halted the trilogy bout.
Nearly three years removed from his last outing, it is unclear if and when the 35-year-old will compete again and who he will wind up against.

Nevertheless, in an interview with GQ released Wednesday morning, McGregor revealed 10 things he can't live without, which included a pair of UFC gloves.
"Also, we've got our mixed martial arts gloves," McGregor said. "These gloves, the UFC gloves are so symbolic and, you know, it was a dream come true to put the gloves on with the three letters. It would be akin to a young football player or a soccer player putting on a jersey for Manchester United. Or an American football team like the [Dallas] Cowboys. It's significant that you've made it."
McGregor has been part of some of the highest-grossing events in UFC history, including his lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov and his last victory over Donald Cerrone in January 2020.
It is unclear as to how McGregor's story will end, but what is clear is that his transcendent approach to growing MMA as a global sport will never soon be forgotten.
For now, though, when it comes to the next chapter, it's only a matter of time.
