France has quickly become a hotbed for MMA talent after the country finally legalized the sport in 2020, and in 2022 the UFC held an event at the Accor Arena in Paris for the first time.

The UFC returned to Paris for another card last September nearly a year to the day of its first visit, and now according to Culture MMA that trend will continue when another UFC Paris event takes place on September 28.

The previous UFC cards in France were headlined by former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane, and the report from Culture MMA notes that “Bon Gamin” is the current frontrunner for another main event in his home country.

The first two UFC Paris events saw Gane score stoppage-wins over Tai Tuivasa and Serghei Spivac, but in between those fights the 33-year-old met Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 285 and was submitted in the opening round.

“Bones” is aiming to rebook a heavyweight title bout with Stipe Miocic once he’s finished recovering from surgery, although interim champion Tom Aspinall still appears hopeful that he'll challenge for the undisputed belt in the near future.

Gane is sitting at #2 in the UFC heavyweight rankings following his win over Spivac last year, and perhaps a victory over another top contender at UFC Paris could put the Frenchman right back into the heavyweight title picture.
