Marlon Vera wasn’t thrilled to hear that Henry Cejudo had pulled out of their fight at UFC 292, but it didn’t take long for “Chito” to propose a replacement opponent.
The Ecuadorian and Cejudo were scheduled to meet in a bantamweight bout as part of the UFC 292 main card in Boston, with both men looking to rebound from losses in their most recent outings.
"Triple C” broke the news on social media yesterday that a shoulder injury would keep him from competing on August 19, and Vera quickly issued a blunt reaction to the announcement.

“Well…f***," Vera remarked.
A fight with the former two-division champion and Olympic gold medalist would have been a massive opportunity for “Chito” to get back into the win column after the lackluster performance he put in for his last fight against Cory Sandhagen.

As disappointed as Vera may be about the Cejudo injury, it appears that the 30-year-old still hopes to compete at UFC 292 and wasted little time suggesting that he square off with another former champion for the event in Boston.

“Yan step up," Vera said.
It wasn’t that long ago that Petr Yan was undefeated in the UFC and ranked by many as one of the promotion’s top pound-for-pound fighters, but the 30-year-old has had a difficult run since losing his bantamweight title to Aljamain Sterling via disqualification at UFC 259.
“No Mercy” rebounded from that loss by winning a decision over Sandhagen, but his rematch with Sterling at UFC 273 began what has turned into a three-fight losing skid.

Losing the Vera vs. Cejudo matchup is a significant blow to what has turned into a stacked UFC 292 event, and there is no word on whether or not Vera will ultimately get a replacement opponent.
The card does boast a number of other high-profile matchups and is still headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Sterling and Sean O’Malley, as well as Zhang Weili defending her strawweight title in the co-main event against Amanda Lemos.
