Industry-Changing UFC Lawsuit Reaches 9-Figure Settlement
Following back-to-back losses in only two bouts for WEC, Chan Sung Jung joined the UFC roster in 2011 and went on to establish himself as one of the most entertaining fighters in the sport during his incredible career.
“The Korean Zombie” decided to hang up his gloves following a knockout-loss to Max Holloway last August, but the 37-year-old is now poised to try his hand as a fight promoter in his native South Korea per an announcement on Instagram.
The two-time UFC title challenger helped to establish South Korea as a major player in the MMA landscape during his fighting career, and Z-Fight Night will join a strong regional scene in the country that already includes promotions such as Road FC and Black Combat.
Major UFC Fight Night Card in Paris Reportedly Set for September
It was recently announced that Jung’s former opponent and UFC Hall of Famer José Aldo will make an unexpected return to the Octagon at UFC 301, but perhaps “The Korean Zombie” will choose to stay retired after the truly epic sendoff he received from the crowd in Singapore last August.
Jung did state in a recent appearance on the Jaxxon Podcast that he doesn’t have the durability to compete in MMA anymore, but he might be tempted to return under his own promotion like fellow WEC and UFC veteran Urijah Faber is set to do later this year in A-1 Combat.
