Israel Adesanya had his second reign as UFC middleweight champion cut short when he took on #5-ranked Sean Strickland in the card's main event.

Strickland was viewed as being a second-choice option when Dricus Du Plessis was unable to compete at UFC 293, but the 32-year-old outstruck Adesanya over five rounds to earn a clear decision and pull off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.

The night’s co-main event saw fan favorite Tai Tuivasa attempt to snap a two-fight losing skid in a heavyweight clash with Alexander Volkov.

“Bam Bam" had some early success landing body shots and challenging Volkov with big punches, but the Australian ended up on his back in the second round and was eventually forced to tap to a rarely-seen Ezekial choke.

Tyson Pedro and Justin Tafa kicked the night's main card off with a pair of huge first-round finishes, and the PPV portion of the event also included Manel Kape winning a decision over UFC debutant Felipe dos Santos in an action-packed flyweight bout.

The night's prelims also featured some entertaining matchups as well as quite a few submissions wins, including the verbal submission that occurred when Jack Jenkins dislocated his elbow after being taken down by Chepe Mariscal.
