UFC 297: Sean Strickland Teammate Torches Dominick Cruz: "Stupid Ass Commentary"
One fighter who competed on the UFC 297 card went off on Dominick Cruz's commentary.
With Joe Rogan unavailable, Dominick Cruz filled in as a color commentator for the UFC's first pay-per-view event of 2024. The former two-time UFC bantamweight champion was on the call with Jon Anik and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier from the first preliminary fight to the main event between Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland.
Speaking of Strickland, his teammate Chris Curtis was on the main card of UFC 297, defeating Marc-André Barriault via split decision. Curtis is none too pleased with Cruz's desk work.

During an appearance on "The MMA Hour," Curtis criticized Cruz for saying that his fight with Barriault looked more like a sparring session.
"Apparently, Sean and Dricus were throwing big, sloppy power punches with no technique, but according to Dominick Cruz and now the internet, because everyone latches onto commentators, 'Oh, you're just sparring.' I'm like, stand here Dominick Cruz, and let me hit you the way I was hitting him and see if it's just sparring. Like, no, we're two large, solid men. I promise you guys I was hitting him f****** hard, he was hitting me hard. I feel it since the fight but he's like, 'Oh, it looks like sparring.' Oh my God, the narrative is glorious."
Chris Curtis doubled down, having some harsh words for Cruz's analysis.
"My face still hurts today but because of Dominick Cruz's stupid ass commentary I get to hear, 'Oh, it's a sparring match and low volume.' Alright man, this is why I watch fights with the volume off."
