UFC 298 Aftermath: Watch Kamaru Usman's Live Reaction to Ilia Topuria's KO Win
Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has shared footage of his live reaction to the entire UFC 298 main card, including Ilia Topuria’s sensational knockout against Alexander Volkanovski in the night’s main event.
Last weekend’s UFC 298 featured one of the more stacked PPV main cards in recent memory, but there was never any doubt that fans were most excited for the headlining featherweight title fight.
Topuria made good on his pre-fight promises when he brutally stopped Volkanovski in the second round, and a video posted on Usman’s YouTube channel shows how emphatically the former UFC titleholder reacted to the highlight-reel finish (skip to 5:10 for the main event reaction).
Usman’s title reign included impressive knockouts over the likes of Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, and Jorge Masvidal, but unfortunately, the 36-year-old lost his belt thanks to one of the greatest finishes of all time when Leon Edwards head-kicked him at UFC 278.
“The Nigerian Nightmare” came up short in an immediate rematch with Edwards before he jumped on a short-notice opportunity to fight Khamzat Chimaev at middleweight, and after dropping a decision in that matchup the former champion is currently on the first three-fight skid of his career.
Topuria’s knockout of Volkanovski ended the Australian’s run of featherweight dominance at five title defenses, and “El Matador” appears poised to become a massive star now that he’s claimed UFC gold.
