UFC 298: Former UFC Champion Considering Retirement If Next Fight Isn't A Win
UFC 298 is mere weeks away, and it may be the last time we see one fighter on the card swing leather.
February 17 marks the date for the upcoming UFC 298 pay-per-view event. The card will be headlined by a featherweight title fight, as champion Alex Volkanovski goes one-on-one with challenger Ilia Topuria. It'll go down inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The event figures to be one to remember, but the stakes may have just been raised for one key matchup.
UFC 300: Milestone Event Adds Another Former UFC Champion
Appearing The HJR Experiment, along with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Frank Mir, Henry Cejudo admitted that a loss against Merab Dvalishvili may mean the end of his pro MMA career for good.
"I think after losing to Aljamain, I think if I was gonna go maybe down the ladder I would probably be done with fighting again," Cejudo said. "Yeah, 'cause it's just like the sport is hard, man, having two kids, things like that."
Cejudo initially retired following a TKO victory over Dominick Cruz back in 2020. He returned back last May in an effort to unseat Aljamain Sterling and become a two-time UFC bantamweight champion. "Triple C" ended up losing the fight via split decision.
With the Merab fight looming, Cejudo only sees one option to continue fighting beyond UFC 298.
"It's all or nothing, man," Cejudo said.
Cejudo went on to say that how he's feeling at this stage of his career doesn't necessarily have to do with the highs and lows of being an athlete.
"I don't feel those highs, man, even with fighting," Cejudo admitted. "Like people talk about 25,000 people, I can give two f****. I've been competing since I was 10, 11 years old winning national titles in front of maybe 500, 300, like the toughest s*** a human could ever do."
It won't be long before we find out whether or not Henry Cejudo's second run comes to a close this year.
