UFC 300: Milestone Event Adds Another Former UFC Champion
Already loaded with some of the promotion's biggest names, UFC 300 has just added another fight featuring a former UFC champion.
Fans are still trying to figure out what Dana White has in mind for the UFC 300 main event, but earlier this week another huge fight was announced when the UFC CEO revealed that Kayla Harrison will make her promotional debut against former bantamweight titleholder Holly Holm.
The event also features Zhang Weili defending her strawweight title in an all-China showdown against Yan Xiaonan, and now the promotion has added another huge women’s bout between former strawweight queen Jéssica Andrade and Marina Rodriguez.
Currently the UFC’s #6-ranked strawweight contender, Rodriguez snapped a two-fight skid when she finished Michelle Waterson-Gomez last September but isn’t far removed from a four-fight winning streak that included a split-decision victory over Xiaonan.
“La Faraona” will try to break into the strawweight Top 5 when she meets Andrade, who fought an astonishing five times last year and knocked out Mackenzie Dern in her most recent outing to end a three-fight run of stoppage losses.
Eight out of the eleven confirmed bouts for UFC 300 now feature at least one fighter that has held UFC gold at some point, and with less than three months to go until April 13 the card currently looks like this:
