The weigh-ins for UFC 299 will be conducted a bit differently than fight fans have come to expect.

This Saturday’s UFC 299 card is set to take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, FL and is headlined by a highly-anticipated rematch between “Suga” Sean O’Malley and Marlon “Chito” Vera for O’Malley’s bantamweight title.
The weigh-ins for the event will take place on Friday morning from 9 a.m to 11 a.m., but according to Cageside Press the Florida State Athletic Commission will require all fighters to step on the scale within the first hour and only weigh-in during the second hour if they miss weight on their first attempt.
The surprising stipulation hopefully won’t create any issues for the fighters scheduled to compete at UFC 299, and earlier today it was also revealed that #1-ranked bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili will step on the scale on Friday to serve as the official backup for the card’s main event.
UFC Hall of Famer Makes Shock Unretirement
The majority of the fighters booked for UFC 299 have had few issues with making weight during their careers, although former title challenger Katlyn Cerminara (née Chookagian) did miss the flyweight limit for her last outing against Manon Fiorot.
Flyweight CJ Vergara has also come in heavy for two out of his five UFC appearances, and although Michel Pereira famously missed the welterweight limit by a wide margin ahead of UFC 291 the Brazilian is scheduled to meet Michał Oleksiejczuk in his second middleweight bout after a knockout-win over Andre Petroski.
