UFC 300: Massive Women’s Bantamweight Signee Added to Las Vegas Blockbuster
Just before 11 p.m. ET Tuesday night, UFC CEO Dana White stunned the MMA world with the announcement of now-former PFL featherweight superstar, Kayla Harrison, and her addition to the promotion.
Harrison has remained inactive for the better part of a year-and-a-half outside of one showcase bout, and will now look to spice up the UFC’s 135-pound bantamweight division.
Harrison will take part in UFC 300, just under 12 weeks away in Las Vegas, Nev. Opposite the American Top Team staple will be former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm, who is also part of the boxing Hall of Fame and famously knocked out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 to win the belt.
The fight will take place at bantamweight, a division Harrison has yet to compete in. As for Holm, who sits at No. 5 in the divisional rankings, she is seeking her first victory in over a year and moving one step closer to another bantamweight title shot.
UFC 300: Featherweight Fight With Massive Rankings Implications Booked
As for Harrison, who is one of the best judo practitioners today, she’ll look to have her moment on the biggest stage in MMA, on arguably the biggest card in MMA, making the pressure that much more intense.
Despite it not being the main event, UFC 300 is shaping up to be an all-time classic card, as it is the second fight to be announced in a span of a few hours.
With Holm vs. Harrison official, UFC 300’s depth continues to increase, only leaving the other unannounced bouts more anticipated than ever.
At press time, a main event has still not been revealed.
