The Celtics were already one of the best teams in the NBA but made huge acquisitions over the offseason.
They traded for Kristaps Porzingis, who is a 2018 NBA All-Star and averaged 23.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per contest in 65 games for the Washington Wizards last season.
In addition, the Celtics landed NBA Champion Jrue Holiday, who was an All-Star last year and averaged 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.2 steals per contest in 67 games for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Celtics are coming off a season where they were the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 57-25 record.
They beat the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers in the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs but lost to the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Conference Finals.
The franchise made the NBA Finals in 2022 and has been to the Conference Finals five times over the previous seven seasons.
Meanwhile, the Knicks were the fifth seed in the east last year and lost to the Miami Heat in the second round of the playoffs (in six games).
