On Wednesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers are taking on the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center for Game 5 of their second-round playoff series.

They have a 3-1 lead, so a victory would close out the series, but a win for the Warriors would force Game 6 back in Los Angeles (on Friday evening).

During the fourth quarter, eight-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis went to the locker room with an injury.

Via Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet: "We're awaiting an update on Anthony Davis after he appeared to take an elbow from Kevon Looney in the middle of the 4th Q. He's currently back in the locker room."

ESPN's Dave McMenamin also added more context on the injury.

Via McMenamin: "Finally got a look at the AD replay. It was Looney inadvertantly hitting him in this face, not Gary Payton II poking him in the eye as I thought happened live. At any rate, he's been out of the game for the last several minutes and his being attended to away from the bench."

Davis is one of the team's most important players and came into the night averaging 21.4 points, 14.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.7 blocks per contest while shooting 52.6% from the field through the first ten games of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

He is in his 11th season in the NBA and his fourth playing for the Lakers.

In 2020, Davis helped lead the franchise to the NBA Championship.

The Lakers are currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference and defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.

Whoever wins the series will advance to the Conference Finals and face off against the Denver Nuggets or the Phoenix Suns.
