BREAKING: Giannis Antetokounmpo's Injury Diagnosis Revealed
On Thursday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks won their 12th game in a row when they defeated the Chicago Bulls 112-100 (on the road at the United Center).
However, two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo exited the game with a wrist injury.
He is arguably the best player in the world, so his status has significant implications for the standings.
On Monday night, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported an injury update.
Wojnarowski: "Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a sprained ligament in his right wrist and will undergo treatment with the expectation that he'll be able to return to the lineup once the pain subsides, sources tell ESPN. He was examined in New York today."
Right now, the seven-time NBA All-Star is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists per contest in 47 games (while shooting 53.8% from the field).
The Bucks are also the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-17 record in 58 games.
They are just a half-game behind the Boston Celtics for first and have the longest active winning streak in the league.
In 2021, Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the NBA Championship over the Phoenix Suns, and last season they lost in Game 7 of the second round.
There is no question that the Bucks are a surefire contender for the 2023 title, but they will need a healthy Antetokounmpo to get there.
On Friday night, the Bucks will play their first game following the All-Star break when they host Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat at home in Wisconsin.
