On Friday evening, the Phoenix Suns will host the Denver Nuggets for Game 3 of their second-round playoff series.

For the game, they will be without one of their most important players, as Chris Paul has officially been ruled out due to a groin injury.

Underdog NBA: "Status alert: Chris Paul (groin) officially ruled out for Friday."

The future Hall of Famer got injured in Game 2 and did not return.

On Tuesday, the Suns announced an update on Paul.

Via The Suns on Tuesday: "INJURY UPDATE: Further evaluation has confirmed that Chris Paul has sustained a left groin strain. He is considered day to day."

While he is 37 years old, the 12-time All-Star is still among the best point guards in the league.

Through his first seven games of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, Paul has averages of 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest while shooting 41.8% from the field.

The Suns lost the first two games of the series in Denver, so they will need a victory to avoid falling into an 0-3 hole.

They have one of the best starting lineups in the league that also features Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.

All three players will have to step up in Paul's absence.

After finishing the regular season as the fourth seed in the Western Conference, the Suns defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs in five games.

The winner of the Nuggets-Suns series will advance to the Conference Finals.
