Luka Doncic Injury Update Reported Before Mavs-Warriors Game
On Saturday evening, the Dallas Mavericks will be in California to face off with the Golden State Warriors.
However, they will be without their best player, as Luka Doncic has been ruled out due to a heel injury.
The former third-overall pick got injured in Thursday’s 111-106 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Before the game against the Warriors, NBA reporter Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that Doncic will likely miss the next game (against the Utah Jazz on Monday night) in addition to Saturday.
Via Stein: "The likely scenario, league sources say, is that Dallas' Luka Dončić (right heel contusion) will miss at least one more game beyond tonight's ABC game at Golden State before joining the team for Wednesday's road date with the Clippers."
Doncic is in the middle of a remarkable season with outstanding averages of 33.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists per contest in 47 games (while shooting 50.4% from the field).
The four-time NBA All-Star is going to have an excellent case for winning the 2023 MVP Award if he continues to play at this level.
As for the Mavs, they are 28-25 in 53 games, which has them tied with the Los Angeles Clippers for the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak but just 9-16 in 25 games on the road.
Last season, the Warriors beat the Mavs in the Western Conference Finals.
Right now, they are 26-26 in 52 games and tied for the eighth seed in the west.
