BREAKING: Atlanta Hawks Sign 4-Year NBA Player

The Atlanta Hawks have signed Chris Silva, who played one game for the Dallas Mavericks last season.

UPDATE: The Atlanta Hawks have waived Chris Silva.  

Chris Silva is coming off a year where he appeared in one game for the Dallas Mavericks.

The former South Carolina star also played in the G League for the College Park Skyhawks (affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks) and averaged 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 51.5% from the field in 21 regular season games (he also appeared in 18 Showcase Cup games). 

This summer, Silva was a free agent, and on Monday, the Hawks announced that they had signed him (h/t Kevin Chouinard of Hawks.com).

Via Hawks PR: "The Atlanta Hawks signed forward Chris Silva, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed."

In addition to the Mavs, Silva has also spent time with the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves over four seasons.

The 27-year-old has career averages of 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 60.9% from the field in 70 regular season games.  

During his rookie year (with the Heat), Silva played in a career-high 44 regular season games and averaged 3.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 61.5% from the field. 

As for the Hawks, they are coming off a year where they were the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-41 record. 

They beat the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament but lost to Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in six games). 

The franchise has made the NBA playoffs for three straight years.
