BREAKING: Boston Celtics Reportedly Sign Former USC Star
UPDATE: The Boston Celtics have officially signed Drew Peterson.
On Tuesday evening, the Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers (at home) by a score of 120-113.
They will play their next game on Thursday when they host the Cavs (again).
On Wednesday afternoon, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team is signing Drew Peterson to a two-way contract.
Via Wojnarowski's first post: "The Boston Celtics are zeroing in on free agent F Drew Peterson for a two-way contract, sources tell ESPN. He’s been playing with Sioux Falls of the G League."
Via Wojnarowski's second post: "Peterson's agents with @EquityBBall-- Mike Silverman and Troy Payne -- say the deal is agreed upon and Peterson is expected to join the Celtics as soon as Thursday."
Peterson went undrafted this past summer after playing five seasons of college basketball for Rice (two) and USC (three).
Last season (with USC), he averaged 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 44.2% from the field and 35.8% from the three-point range in 33 games.
Peterson had most recently been playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce (the G League affiliate of the Miami Heat).
The Celtics had an open two-way roster spot because they waived Nathan Knight on Tuesday evening.
As for the Celtics, they are the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 17-5 record in their first 22 games.
They are 7-3 over their last ten games and in the middle of a two-game winning streak.
At home, the Celtics are a perfect 11-0 in Boston, Massachusetts.
