The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA and have a very young roster that has the potential to make a deep run in the postseason.

Xavier Tillman (24) is coming off a solid season where he averaged 7.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 61.4% from the field.

On Monday, the team announced that they are picking up his contract option for the 2023-24 season.

Via Grizzlies PR: "The @memgrizz today announced the team exercised its 2023-24 contract option on Xavier Tillman Sr."

Tillman will make $1.9 million in the final year of his contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2024.

The former Michigan State star was the 35th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has spent the first three seasons of his pro career with Memphis.

Last year, the Grizzlies were the second seed in the Western Conference for the second consecutive season.

However, they lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games.

Tillman played in all six Playoff games and averaged 8.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest while shooting 53.3% from the field.

The Grizzlies will once again be expected to be among the best teams in the NBA next year, as they recently acquired Marcus Smart in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards.

Smart has played in an astonishing 108 NBA Playoff games and will bring a unique level of experience to the locker room.
