New York Knicks Sign 25-Year-Old Center

The New York Knicks have signed Dmytro Skapintsev to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Dmytro Skapintsev is coming off a season where he played in the G League for the Westchester Knicks.

The 25-year-old center averaged 8.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while shooting 60.8% from the field in 28 regular season games (he also appeared in 15 Showcase Cup games).

On Thursday, the New York Knicks announced that they had signed Skapintsev to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Via KnicksPR: "The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed Dmytro Skapintsev to an Exhibit 10 contract."

Skapintsev went undrafted in 2020 and has yet to make his NBA debut.

Since he is on an Exhibit 10 deal, he will likely join the Knicks for training camp and then return to their G League team.

That said, Skapintsev had a solid season in the G League and has good size (7'1"), which means he could be an excellent candidate to sign a ten-day contract or a two-way deal at some point (with the Knicks or any other team).

The Knicks have also signed Obadiah Noel to an Exhibit 10 deal, and SNY's Ian Begley provided more context on the signings.

Via Begley: "Knicks have the G League rights for Dmytro Skapintsev and Obadiah Noel, players they've signed to Exhibit 10 deals. The Exhibit 10 provision is a financial incentive for both players to join the Westchester Knicks if they don't make the NBA roster out of training camp."

Last year, the Knicks were the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and lost to the Miami Heat in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
