Sacramento Kings Release 3-Year NBA Player
Deonte Burton is coming off a year where he appeared in two regular-season games for the Sacramento Kings.
The former Iowa State star also played in the G League and averaged 12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 54.0% from the field and 40.6% from the three-point range in 28 regular season games.
This summer, Burton became a free agent, and he signed with the Kings.
However, the Kings have now waived the 29-year-old (according to the NBA's official transaction page).
James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento provided more details.
Via Ham: "According to a league source, the Sacramento Kings have waived both Chance Comanche and Deonte Burton. If they clear waivers, both will join the Stockton Kings. Roster now stands at 18."
Burton spent the first two seasons of his career playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder before his brief stint with the Kings last year.
His carer averages are 2.5 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 36.4% from the field and 22.2% from the three-point range in 73 regular season games (he has also appeared in four NBA playoff games).
As for the Kings, they are coming off an impressive season where they finished as the third seed in the Western Conference with a 48-34 record.
They made the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season, which snapped the longest drought in the league.
In the first round of the NBA playoffs, they took the Golden State Warriors to seven games (before getting eliminated).
