Phoenix Suns Reportedly Interested In Kevin Durant's Recent Teammate

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Phoenix Suns are among the teams interested in Edmond Sumner.

Edmond Sumner is coming off a season where he played 53 regular season games for the Brooklyn Nets and had averages of 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 46.1% from the field and 35.6% from the three-point range (he also appeared in one NBA playoff game).

Recently, he was waived by the Nets, so the 27-year-old is now a free agent.

On Friday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that five teams, including the Phoenix Suns, are interested in Sumner.

Via Scotto's article on HoopsHype: "Former Brooklyn Nets guard Edmond Sumner has drawn exploratory interest from the Hornets, Bucks, Raptors, Heat, and Suns since becoming a free agent, league sources told HoopsHype."

In addition to the Nets, Sumner has also spent time with the Indiana Pacers (he was the 52nd pick in the 2017 NBA Draft).

His career averages are 6.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 47.0% from the field and 34.1% from the three-point range in 161 regular season games (he has also appeared in 5 NBA playoff games).

The Suns would be an intriguing destination because they have one of the best rosters in the league and will need to surround their superstars with the right role players.

Sumner also played with Kevin Durant on the Nets last season.

The Suns are coming off a year where they were the fourth seed in the Western Conference and lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
