Max Verstappen has taken pole position for the Austin Grand Prix Sprint Race later today.

Following the Red Bull driver were Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton who will be starting the Sprint Race from second and third position, respectively.

SQ1 managed to be fairly drama-free, however, George Russell is set to be investigated after the session for potentially impeding Charles Leclerc. Daniel Ricciardo found himself in the elimination zone but found the pace when he needed it to squeeze through into SQ2, out-qualifying his AlphaTauri teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

Lewis Hamilton reported some potential front wing damage to the team after coming into slight contact with Tsunoda.

Out in SQ1

Max Verstappen suffered a 360 degree spin at the same place Oscar Piastri went off the track yesterday between Turn 9 and 10. 

Out in SQ2

  5. Zhou Guanyu

As the drivers switch the soft tyres for SQ3, the majority waited until about 4-5 minutes to go before heading out onto the track, leaving it down to the wire to find out who would take pole position for the Sprint Race.
