Lando Norris had a fantastic starting taking the lead of the race from the first corner. His McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri also had an incredible start gaining four positions, however, after contact with Esteban Ocon both the Australian and French driver ultimately had to retire from the race.

Lando Norris - McLaren

With differing tyre strategies, there was an interesting battle at the front of the grid with Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton. The former was on a two-stop race, whereas, the two British drivers were going for a one-stop race.

McLaren opted to change their strategy and surprisingly brought Norris into the pits for a second time, sparking another pit stop from Verstappen. The one-stop strategy also didn't play out for Hamilton as Mercedes brought him in for a second pit on Lap 39.

Fernando Alonso was the next driver to suffer a DNF after running into a floor issue.

Penalty: Alex Albon was given a 5-second penalty for exceeding track limits.
