Newey is considered one of the greatest technical minds in the history of F1, with his car designs playing a pivotal role in Red Bull's eleven world championship titles. Therefore, it's no surprise that rumours about his potential departure would cause quite a stir.

Last month, FIA press conference host Tom Clarkson claimed that Newey's contract with Red Bull was up for renewal, leading to speculation that the 64-year-old may be interested in switching to rivals Mercedes to help Lewis Hamilton in his quest to return to the top of the podium. However, Horner was quick to dismiss these rumours.

While speaking to Sky Sports News, Horner said:

"His heart is still very much in Formula 1 and his commitment to the team is, it's not something… We don't talk about contracts or longevity of contracts, but he'll be here for many years to come."

Horner also acknowledged that rumours are a common occurrence in the world of F1, but emphasised the importance of having Newey as part of the team for the long term. He referred to Newey as a popular part of the team and an essential element in their success.

"There's always going to be rumours in this paddock, that's Formula 1.

“He's such an important part of our team and popular part of our team.

"It's great to have him with us for the long term, but also to be involved in some of the things we're now getting involved in."
