F1 Insider Gives Bold Prediction Ahead Of Saudi Arabian Grand Prix
Former F1 driver and current commentator Martin Brundle has confidently predicted that Fernando Alonso will secure a race victory for Aston Martin this season. The Spaniard, who recently joined the British team excited fans with a podium finish in his debut race at Bahrain Grand Prix, and he is looking to be up near the front of the grid for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The driver remains fiercely competitive and determined to add to his two world championships. Team chief Mike Krack has described the driver's energy and motivation as "infectious".
During Sky Sports F1's coverage of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Brundle was asked whether he thought Alonso was capable of clinching a race win for Aston Martin. He replied confidently, highlighting the teams time in the wind tunnel compared to Red Bull who are dealing with a 10% reduction with their time due to exceeding the cost cap in 2021. Brundle explained:
"Without doubt, something will happen this year.
"It is a good car, he is in flying form. They have got a lot of development capacity in that team through the year at Aston Martin.
"They could well keep moving that car along, more than others who have less wind tunnel time, less digital wind tunnel time and the budget cap closes teams down as well - you can't just spend your way out of trouble in F1 anymore.
"So if Alonso wins a race this year, I would not be in the least bit surprised."
With Alonso's impressive driving skills, the support of his team, and a car that is well-suited to his driving style, he is definitely a driver to watch out for this season.
It won't be long before he clinches his first win for Aston Martin and reminds the world why he is one of the greatest drivers in the sport's history. So buckle up, F1 fans, the excitement is just getting started!
