F1 fans have been applauding Alex Albon for his incredible performance over the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, branding him a "great team leader".

The British-Thai driver firs of all put himself on provisional pole during Q2 of qualifying on Saturday when he and the team made the right call with tyre choices on the changeable track. He ended up qualifying in tenth position but after other penalties were handed out, he started the race from ninth on the grid.

Alex Albon - Williams

Albon put in a great performance on race day, earning himself 'Driver of the Day' and the best finish for the Williams team of the season as he crossed the line in seventh position. The six points earned by Albon put the British team above AlphaTauri in the constructors' championship. Williams now has 7 points in ninth place behind Haas who has 8 points and ahead of AlphaTauri who are tenth with just 2 points.

Fans have been reacting to Albon's impressive driver to Reddit since the rest ended. One fan wrote:

"If this upward trajectory continues, I really want Alex to continue a bit more at Williams. Under Vowles, I think he has the potential to grow into a great team leader(which he already is doing an amazing job at!)"

Another fan responded predicting that Williams will be even stronger in 2024. They replied:

"Yeah. I think Williams has struck gold with this combination. If they give it their all for car development this year. Williams will come out pretty damn strong next year."

Someone else who is clearly excited for the future of Williams posted:

"I already think the Williams has gone from being the worst car on the grid last year to being on its day better than the Haas, AlphaTauri and Alfa Romeo this year (at least in the hands of Albon). I would love it if they start fighting McLaren and Alpine for 6th next year."

Albon is currently twelfth in the drivers' standings behind Lando Norris and ahead of Nico Hulkenberg.
