F1 News: Andretti Set Sights On Aston Martin Reserve Driver

Andretti is keen on pulling Aston Martin Reserve Driver Felipe Drugovich on their side among other drivers.

Andretti has been eyeing former F2 champion and Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich for their Formula E team. The interest comes after Drugovich impressed the team with a consistent top performance in F2 and Formula E.

Drugovich has seen plenty of track time as he moved to Aston Martin to become their reserve driver alongside Stoffel Vandoorne. He even took part in pre-season testing before runs at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone when Lance Stroll was unable to make it as a result of his bike crash.

With Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso's contract lasting until the end of the 2024 season, Drugovich finds it difficult to find a driver's seat that he can get into. However, an opportunity from Andretti might see things working out for the 23-year-old racer.

It is reported by current Andretti driver Jake Dennis that his team is keen to have a "talented" Drugovich on board for the 2023-2024 season of the Formula E Championship. He said:

“Clearly Drugovich is a very talented driver.

"He won F2 with complete dominance – there wasn’t a driver who could really get close to him.

“So in terms of talent, there’s no question about it, he is very capable of coming into Formula E and delivering top results.

"We are interested in him for sure, along with other drivers on the grid. It’s not just Drugovich we are looking into, there are multiple other drivers.”

Speaking of Formula E, Drugovich's report card says a lot about his capabilities. He finished first in the Formula E Berlin Rookie test when he drove for Maserati MSG Racing. The second time at the Rome ePrix, the Brazilian driver secured the top position with the same team.

However, it is uncertain what Drugovich's plans for the future are and whether he is keen to race full-time in Formula E, or not.
