Christian Horner, the head of the Red Bull racing team, recently lauded Sebastian Vettel for his significant role in transforming Aston Martin's position in the current season.

Before retiring from Formula 1 last year, Vettel, a four-time consecutive title winner with Red Bull from 2010 to 2013, spent two years with Aston Martin. Despite a mid-table position and only one podium finish, Vettel's stint with Aston Martin was noteworthy.

This season has witnessed a significant change in the fortunes of Aston Martin, with the team emerging as a leading force, bagging six podium finishes in eight races, thanks to Fernando Alonso. Christian Horner believes that Vettel should be credited with setting the stage for this impressive performance.

In an interview with Sport BILD, Horner expressed,

“It must be frustrating for Sebastian to see how Aston Martin is doing this year. He didn’t have a very easy stage there. The truth is that without him, they wouldn’t be where they are this season. He has shared much of his successful experience and now that he is not in Formula 1 he will be enjoying time with his family.”

Even though Aston Martin has demonstrated considerable improvement, they still haven't scored their first F1 victory due to Red Bull's overwhelming dominance. Red Bull had a victorious run last year and has won all eight races held in the current season.

Red Bull currently leads the pack with a 154-point advantage over second-place Mercedes, with the focus already shifting towards next year's car. Behind Red Bull and Mercedes, Aston Martin is engaged in a fierce competition for the second position in the Constructors' Championship.
