Charles Leclerc will be starting the Belgian Grand Prix from pole position on Sunday.

Although Max Verstappen put in the fastest lap time during qualifying today, he will start from sixth on Sunday due to a 5-place grid penalty after exceeding the allocated number of gearboxes for a season, so Leclerc will start from the front.

It has been a tricky season so far for the Monegasque driver, who is currently sitting in seventh position in the drivers' standings with 80 points, and the dominance of the Red Bull RB19s will still be a threat for Leclerc on Sunday.

During his post-qualifying interview, Leclerc explained that there is still work to do and that it wasn't easy despite bagging pole position. He commented:

"Yeah, not bad qualifying for us, especially in those conditions is always tricky to put everything together. I put a lot of work in those conditions as I wasn't really comfortable a few races ago, and it seems to [have] paid off.

"We went a bit too early for that last run. Pole was definitely not for us today and Max was too quick, but we could have been a bit closer. Having said that we have a great starting position for Sunday and yeah, let's see how it goes.

"It was really tricky. I had Kevin [Magnussen] also that went in the wall and then continue in front of me. So I didn't put a lap in early and then you've got all the pressure on that last lap that you need to put on in those conditions. It wasn't easy, but at the end everything went well. So, happy.

"Having said that, there's still quite a bit of work to do in order to catch the Red Bulls."
