Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has addressed his now-iconic threat to Toto Wolff during the 2022 season, confirming that he doesn't often tell the Mercedes team principal and CEO to "change their f***ing car".

Last season, the world of Formula 1 witnessed an intense clash between Mercedes' Toto Wolff and Red Bull's Christian Horner. Central to their dispute was the technical challenge of "porpoising." The Mercedes W13 exhibited this behaviour across various tracks and plagued the team for the majority of the season, while the Red Bull RB18 remained relatively stable and secured victories.

The tension peaked during a team principal meeting in Canada. Thanks to Netflix's "Drive to Survive", fans got a front-row seat to the raw confrontation. Wolff sternly warned Horner:

“I can tell you that all of you are playing a dangerous game. If a car ends the wall because it is too stiff or it is bottoming out, you are in the s**t and I’m gonna come after you.”

In what seemed like a response to the Netflix camera's presence, Horner shot back:

“Are we playing to the cameras here? I think this is probably better off camera.”

Horner then directed his frustration towards Wolff, saying:

“Change your car. You’ve got a problem, change your f**king car.”

Despite this hilarious televised altercation, Horner clarified in a recent appearance on the ESPN Unlapped podcast that such fiery exchanges aren't a regular feature of their meetings, which might disappoint some fans.

“I don’t tell him to sort his f**king car out at every meeting,” Horner explained.

He highlighted that these interactions, however passionate, are rooted in the intense competitive spirit of F1 and often lead to productive dialogues.
