F1 News: Toto Wolff Injured During Formula One Summer Break
Mercedes Team Principal and CEO, Toto Wolff, has endured an unfortunate mishap during his summer holiday with his family.
His wife, F1 Academy Managing Director Susie Wolff, shared news of the incident on her Instagram. In her post, she uploaded images of their holiday adventures, including a telling photo of Toto with his left arm encased in a cast. Her caption read:
"Action-packed start to the summer holidays. Last picture shows how the downhill mountain biking ended for Toto…"
Despite the unexpected injury, the photos showed Wolff in good spirits, indicating the holiday would continue as planned. The family even took part in karting, with Susie appearing in racing gear for the first time since her retirement from professional driving.
On being approached for more details by PlanetF1.com, Mercedes confirmed that Toto had fractured his elbow during a downhill mountain biking incident that occurred right after the Belgian Grand Prix. However, they assured that Toto was expected to be fully healed by the end of the summer break.
Many fans were sending their well wishes to the team chief for a speedy recovery before the Dutch Grand Prix which will be taking place on 25 - 27 August. One fan commented:
"One week without racing and he hurts himself. get well soon Toto"
Another fan hilariously referred to Wolff slamming his fists onto the desk during a Formula One weekend which he is often seen doing when he gets particularly frustrated. They wrote:
"Hope he doesn't forget and do some fist banging!"
Someone else wrote that Wolff should go back to using training wheels on his bike, they posted:
"Get him some training wheels! Glad to see you guys having fun, enjoy."
