There is speculation regarding the dynamic between Formula 1's formidable drivers at Ferrari. Charles Leclerc extended his contract with the Maranello team, likely beyond 2026, while Lewis Hamilton announced his move to the Scuderia starting in 2025. With these changes, the question arises: will a power struggle ensue between the two drivers next season?

Giancarlo Minardi, the former owner of the now-defunct Minardi Formula One team, expressed to journalist Leo Turrini his concern about the hiring of Hamilton. He said:

“We have to ask ourselves: in all these years has Ferrari lost because of who was driving it?

“[The team] hasn’t been without a title for a generation because of who was behind the wheel’. It follows that Hamilton is no guarantee of success. Just as Vettel was not.

“In F1 it is fundamental to have a winning car. You don’t build a house from the roof up, but from the foundations.”

Adding to his statements, Minardi said that Ferrari introduced Hamilton into the team when they were "betting everything" on Leclerc. He said:

“Look, they had extended his contract saying they were betting everything on him.

“A week goes by and they put a Myth like Hamilton next to him…”

Charles Leclerc - Ferrari

Leclerc has won five Grands Prix until today but, he remains without a title win. Hamilton, on the other hand, is trying everything he can to secure his eighth Formula 1 championship title.

Piero Ferrari, Vice Chairman of Ferrari, expressed satisfaction with Lewis Hamilton's move to the team in an interview with Turrini. Ferrari sees Hamilton as a perfect fit for the brand's racing legacy, aiming to mirror legends like Michael Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio. Revealing that he sees no power struggle between the 2025 pairing, Ferrari told Turrini:

“Charles is the champion of the future, Ferrari believes in him and has proved it, I think. Hamilton is Hamilton. I don’t see why they should fight.”
