An avid F1 fan has drawn a comparison to the current situation with Charles Leclerc and Ferrari to the film, Rush.

F1 fan, Simon Dau, has posted to social media claiming that Leclerc's current issues within the Maranello-based squad have reminded him of a particular scene in the film, which is centred around Niki Lauda and James Hunt, when Lauda is told that he is not allowed to bad-mouth the Ferrari team. Dau posted:

"Remember that scene from Rush where Niki is told he cannot say bad things about the car because 'it's a Ferrari'?

"Fred Vasseur on Charles being unhappy with the team's tyre call during quali: 'We had a good discussion, and he [Leclerc] said: 'Okay I was wrong.'"

Leclerc has had a difficult start to the 2023 season with some strategic errors, which was also a problem for the team last year. During the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, the Monegasque driver hit out at the team to the media stating that he had told them that he needed to change tyres but they told him to stay out during qualifying, which saw him eliminated in Q2.

Ferrari team chief Fred Vasseur then tried to smooth things over with the press afterwards claiming that the correct call was made and Leclerc had admitted he was wrong.

Others were quick to comment on the situation, another fan responded:

"You don't change Ferrari, Ferrari changes you. Has anyone been more disappointing this year that Fred Vasseur? How is he different than Binotto?"

Another fan posted, sarcastically, that the driver was wrong for speaking his mind. They commented:

"He was wrong... to speak his mind publicly."

Someone else agreed but claims that it isn't any different at Red Bull. They posted:

"It’s archaic and backward but don’t think Red Bull with Marko there is any different."
