F1 News: Former Red Bull Driver Blasts Sergio Perez - "Have To Deliver In All Conditions"

Former F1 driver Mark Webber has analysed Sergio Perez's British GP performance.

Former F1 driver Mark Webber has criticised Sergio Perez for his recent performance at the British Grand Prix

Perez had a disappointing performance during the British GP qualifying rounds after being eliminated in Q1. This marks his fifth consecutive failure to reach the final round of qualifying.

The Mexican driver attributed his early Q1 exit to lower tyre temperature, while his teammate, Max Verstappen, seized his fifth consecutive pole position. Former Red Bull driver, Mark Webber, wasn't forgiving in his critique, pinpointing qualifying as Perez's weak spot.

Webber didn't mince his words when he stated to Channel 4:

"I think it’s pretty clear that qualifying is his weakness, obviously, at the moment. And also when there’s any change of conditions in the preparation build-up that make that more tricky for him to understand to get those clean laps in, he’s in all sorts of strife."

Webber also believes that improvement can come from any starting point in the races, as he humorously remarked:

"In the races anyone can move forward from there, even can I, that’s fine being an old fart like I am now. He has to sort qualifying out, he has to sort the mixed conditions out, and I think he’s going to be alright but at this level you have to deliver in all conditions."

Perez ended up starting the race from fifteenth after Valtteri Bottas was disqualified so moved to the back of the pack. In his quest to move up the grid, the Red Bull driver managed to cross the line in sixth position gathering eight points in the drivers' championship.

He finished ahead of Fernando Alonso so continues to hold on to second place in the drivers' standings with 156 points.
