Guenther Steiner found himself in hot water after his comments about race stewards led to a stern reprimand from the FIA. This disciplinary action comes as a clear sign that the governing body is maintaining a focused watch on the comments made by their stakeholders, regardless of how right they may be. The Haas chief has received a reprimand.

The origin of this backlash traces back to a press event where Steiner gave vent to his dissatisfaction.

"It's like, F1 is one of the biggest sports in the world, and we still have laymens, deciding on the fate of people who invest millions in their careers," he said.

It was these comments that caught the FIA's attention and led to the consequent rebuke. The governing body deemed the language used as inappropriate, potentially causing them to feel attacked.

Seeking to set matters straight, Steiner, in a press statement released by his team Haas, voiced his apology towards the stewards.

"I went to the stewards, and here I explained where my disappointment and my disagreement from the weekend in Monaco came from.

"The stewards then told me that they have no problem with people disagreeing with decisions, but that my statements could be misinterpreted.

"I told them I apologised if my comments were misunderstood or they came across as hurtful. I hereby apologise again here."

An interesting turn of events that caused plenty of outrage from fans, but either way, it doesn't seem like it's caused much of an issue for the American-owned team and its chief.
