F1 News: Kevin Magnussen Speaks Out After Future With Haas Confirmed
Kevin Magnussen has spoken out on his contract extension with Haas for the 2024 season, which has been confirmed this morning.
The Danish driver joined the American team back in 2017 where he stayed until 2020 when the team decided to change the driver line-up to Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. However, after Russia's invasion of Ukraine at the beginning of the 2022 season, the team quickly cut ties with Russian driver Mazepin and brought Magnussen back at the last minute.

Despite having been out of a car for a year and not being part of pre-season testing, Magnussen scored a fifth-place finish at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. Later in the 2022 season, he went on to secure the teams first pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix sprint race.
After the confirmation this morning, Magnussen explained in the press release from the team:
“I’m obviously very happy to see my relationship with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team extended once again.
“My return in 2022 had been unexpected but was filled with numerous highlights, and although this season hasn’t gone quite as we’d hoped, we’ve still managed to get into the points and shown potential in the package we have.
"There’s plenty of racing remaining in 2023 and we’ve got a lot of work to do to continue to understand the VF-23 – that learning can be applied into the 2024 car. My thanks, as always, go to Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner for giving me the opportunity to keep racing in the sport I love.”
He also posted to social media:
"I'm excited to announce that I'll be racing with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team in 2024! Thanks to Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner for the trust and support"
