F1 News: Lando Norris Over The Moon With P2 - "It Makes Up For Everything"

The British driver takes home a P2 from today's qualifying at the Silverstone circuit.

McLaren gave us one of the most exciting qualifying sessions this season with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri showing huge levels of performance with the drivers finishing P2 and P3 respectfully on Saturday's qualifying. Max Verstappen put himself on pole, but all eyes were on Lando as he celebrated at his home track.

"I was close, you know," the Brit joked. "I could hear Zach on the radio on the in-lap, which was the best thing ever.

"It's great for I guess myself but also for all for both of us to be second and third was pretty amazing for the whole team.

Reflecting on how he missed out on P1 to his Dutch friend, he joked:

"It's always Max, he always ruins everything for everyone.

"I'm very happy. Also big thanks to the whole the whole crowd here. It's been a very special day for us so I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

Norris has been with McLaren since 2019 and has been involved in the team's uphill struggle since he started driving with them. But with the Papaya crew finally starting to show front-of-the-grid performance, he can confirm that it's been worth the wait.

"It makes up for everything, all the hard work that we've been putting in, especially here with the new livery, home race for the team, for myself.

"We couldn't have had a better result today apart from Max, again, he ruins everything, but the rest was pretty amazing. So a big thanks for everyone."
