Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has defended himself after some fans have criticised the sport for the racing this season being "boring" due to Red Bull's ongoing dominance.

The Austrian team has won every race of the season so far with four out of those five being 1-2 finishes for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, has defended himself after claims from fans of the racing becoming more dull when it becomes apparent that Red Bull are likely to win the race. The British driver explained that he finds every race a challenge to pick his way up the field. He said:

“I’m challenged every single day to get back to the front, so it’s definitely not boring from my perspective.

“But as a racing fan watching, I can understand because there’s not as much competition as there perhaps is in the NFL or the NBA at the moment.

Hamilton went on to defend himself by saying is it not his doing and that the sport has been making changes in order to try and bring the field closer together to make it more interesting for the viewer, such as the cost cap. He continued:

“That’s not my doing. As a sport they have already tried to bring the teams closer but it never seems to work. All I can say is that we’re working as hard as we can to close up and get back and give them more of a fight.”

Mercedes are due to bring in some major upgrades to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend so fans are hoping to see the Brackley-based squad back up putting pressure on the front of the grid.

However, there are ongoing concerns that the race might not go ahead this weekend due to severe weather warnings. We are yet to hear any official announcements.
