Lewis Hamilton is out of the Qatar Grand Prix after crashing with his Mercedes teammate at the first corner of the race at the Losail International Circuit.
Both Mercedes drivers collided with each other at the first corner when Hamilton went for the overtake of Max Verstappen but seemingly didn't leave enough space for Russell who was in between them. The seven-time champion slid out onto the gravel and lost one of his front tyres.

It looked as though Russell was going to be forced to retire from the Qatar Grand Prix in a potential double-disaster for Mercedes, however, he managed to get back to the pits to assess the damage and change the tyres and has rejoined the race under safety car conditions.
As it stands, the race is currently being led by Max Verstappen followed by Oscar Piastri and Fernando Alonso.
