Sargeant's contract with Williams is currently due to expire at the end of the year so his performance in the second half of the season will be imperative in order to agree on a contract extension.

Speaking to the media, Sargeant reflected on his season so far. He explained:

"Yeah, I think ups and downs, not where I want to be.

"Over the last few rounds I feel like I'm much closer to where I want to be. I feel like I've seen really good progression as of late and that's the most important thing

.

If I keep building on that, all should be good."

Williams' new team principal James Vowles has been open with how pleased he is with Sargeant's performance this season so it is anticipated that a contract extension will be announced.

Sargeant's best result so far this season was his eleventh place finish during the British Grand Prix closely followed by a twelfth place finish at the season-opening race in Bahrain.

Formula One is currently on the summer break which will be finishing with the Dutch Grand Prix which is set for 25 - 27 August at the iconic Zandvoort track.
