In response, Verstappen, along with his sim racing teammate Atze Kerkhof, initiated the idea of a sim race as an alternative event to not only keep fans entertained, but to also raise money for those in need in the Emilia Romagna region.

The online race, supported by AlphaTauri, aims to raise funds for those affected. The race will be streamed online, providing Formula 1 enthusiasts with an opportunity to watch the exciting virtual competition while also contributing to the relief efforts.

Verstappen's motivation behind the sim race goes beyond entertainment. Kerkhof explains:

"Max himself came up with the idea of organising a sim race so that there is still something to do this weekend for the fans, but also to draw attention to what is happening in Emilia-Romagna and to support the people affected by the severe weather."

The sim race will feature various categories, including Formula 3 cars, Formula Ford cars, the Mazda MX-5, and a Toyota GR86. Verstappen, as a two-time Formula 1 world champion, will also participate in the races, showcasing his skills in the virtual realm that we all know to be dominating. Joining him will be other drivers, including Yuki Tsunoda, who are eager to contribute to the cause and help the flood-affected region.
