F1 News: Max Verstappen Opens Up On Christian Horner Relationship Amid Ongoing Investigation

2023 Championship winner Max Verstappen has come clean on his relationship with team boss Christian Horner, who is the subject of an investigation for misconduct.

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has shed light on his association with team principal Christian Horner, who is currently under investigation by Red Bull GmbH, the parent company of the team. Allegations of inappropriate behavior from a team member prompted the inquiry. Recent speculation suggested that this investigation was creating tension in the relationship between the world champion and the team boss.

Horner has denied the allegations, but a verdict with the findings of the investigation is yet to be released. Nevertheless, in response to the rumors, Verstappen dismissed the assertions and instead, questioned the motivation behind crafting such stories at the RB20 launch event yesterday. 

When asked by the media about their relationship, Verstappen replied:

“Same as always, I can tell you that.

“I don’t know who likes to write these kinds of things. Me and Christian is like always.”

Verstappen added that he was highly focused on the 2024 season despite being busy with other commitments. He added:

“From my side, I am very focused to get ready, to be fit, to be ready to drive the car.

“Discussing things with the engineers, what you want to do.

“Plus my life is not only Formula 1. I prefer not to think about F1 too much outside of my scheduled training.

“There are a lot of things going on in the background for me and also what I want to do in the future. Also from the virtual side of things that I’m working on, so I’m busy enough.”

Praising the team's preparedness and the zeal to strive for excellence, Verstappen revealed that he saw the drawings of the RB20 after the last race of the 2023 season in Abu Dhabi. He said:

“I saw the drawings in Abu Dhabi, the last race of the season and I was like ‘wow, that’s quite different in a way and definitely conservative’ let’s say like that.

“I think what I like about the team is that we had a great package but they took the chance to really go all out I would say. Try to make it better. Of course time will tell if it’s really, really good but from what I see within the team, everyone is just happy with what they have achieved.”
