F1 News: Max Verstappen Reflects on Impeccable Victory in the Spanish Grand Prix
Max Verstappen, the indomitable force behind the wheel of the Red Bull RB19, seized an unparalleled victory in the Spanish Grand Prix. Taking a grand slam at the Barcelona circuit, he was entirely unreachable, with him finishing a whole 24 seconds in front of Lewis Hamilton in P2.
Revelling in the dominant win at the Spain GP, Verstappen expressed his admiration for the RB19 car, designed ingeniously by Adrian Newey.
He said, "It's a big pleasure to drive with a car like this. It showed again today. We have quite a bit of different strategies out there, but for most of the race, we were on the right one. Again a win here, it's incredible!"
Verstappen led the race after a slight tussle with Ferrari's Carlos Sainz in Turn 1, and since then pulled an easy lead of the pack. Strategy was a huge focus for teams this race, however, and Max was keen to emphasise that in his duel with the Scuderia driver.
"I had the harder compound of course, so I knew the start would be tricky, but going on the outside lucky nothing happened."
He continued:
We had another strong weekend, and that is what I like to see from myself and the team, and hopefully, we can keep that up throughout the year," noted Verstappen, the present championship leader.
