Max Verstappen has sent a sly jab to his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez after winning the Canadian Grand Prix at the weekend.

The Dutch driver took the Red Bull team to their 100th victory, and in a very matter-of-fact moment, Verstappen said that it wouldn't have happened if he wasn't driving for the team. He explained, as quoted by Motorsport.uol.com:

"Well, if I wasn't here today, obviously it would have been very different for team. That's one way of looking at it."

The two-time champion also said that he would not have been happy with his performance if he had been in Perez's position. The Mexican driver was eliminated from qualifying in Q2 and so started from twelfth on the grid and crossed the line in sixth.

Perez's position in the team has been a huge talking point as Red Bull has dominated the season so far but Verstappen has been able to put in a much better performance than him. Verstappen was also asked for his view on Perez's situation, to which he responded candidly that it was not his issue to deal with. He commented:

"It's not my problem. It's something they [the team] maybe have to work on. But you have to ask them. I was busy trying to get the car in better shape and at a time like this it's definitely not something you think about.

"And even now it's not. I'll be back in a little while, have a Red Bull and have a meeting. Then I'll go straight to the hotel and have a nice shower. And as far as I'm concerned, everything's fine."
