After retiring from the sport, for the second time, in 2012, Michael Schumacher was in a horrendous skiing accident in December 2013. The F1 legend was left with severe brain injuries and was placed in an induced coma until the following summer. Schumacher's family have remained extremely private since then and only provide fans with rare updates.
However, during a recent interview with Blick, Benoit was asked how Schumacher was doing, to which he responded:
"There is only one answer to this question and that is what his son Mick gave in one of his rare interviews in 2022: 'I would give anything to talk to dad.'
"This sentence says everything about how his father has been doing for over 3500 days. A case without hope."
Michael's wife Corinna continues to closely monitor the driver's visitors to ensure full details on his condition remain private. Corinna spoke about Michael during the Netflix documentary Schumacher, commenting:
“I mean, everybody misses Michael, but Michael is here. Different, but he's here and that gives us strength, I find.
“We try to carry on a family as Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives. 'Private is private', as he always said. It is very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible.”
