Red Bull leads the constructors' standings at 503 points- more than twice than that of Mercedes. Despite pulling such a lead and having both its drivers- Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez conquer the top 2 positions in the drivers' standings, team principal Christian Horner senses next year to be a lot different.

Rival teams such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren have begun closing the gap and as a result, Horner feels 2024 could have them right on their tail. Consequently, he begged the governing bodies to not make any more changes to the regulations that would prevent or slow the rivals from catching up. He told ESPN's Unlapped podcast:

"Well, every week it keeps changing.

"And, you know, one week it's Ferrari, next week it's Mercedes and then McLaren have turned up and Aston Martin were there at the beginning of the year. So every time we look over our shoulder it’s somebody else that's there.

"And that in many respect has helped us of course, but yeah, it's insanely close. And with stability in the rules, there will always be convergence if you want close racing, just leave the rules alone and you will always find the teams.

"You know, they will converge, the cars will converge. And so I totally expect next year to be a whole different kettle of fish to this year."

It is nice of Horner to call for stability in the rules so that the other teams get a better chance to catch up. It must be quite lonely up there. After all, tight and fair competition is something that would add hugely to the sport, especially when you consider its popularity spreading like wildfire.
