Red Bull F1 driver Sergio Perez has spoken about a staggering career milestone he is set to achieve at the upcoming Singapore GP as he embarks on his 250th Grand Prix.

The Mexican driver will become part of the top 11 drivers to have the most race starts in their careers, joining the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher, and Sebastian Vettel. The monumental moment will also see Perez exceed the number of races David Coulthard took part in, which was 247.

Perez, known as the 'King of the street circuits' is hoping to mark the occasion with a repeat of the 2022 season where he took the win followed by Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz who joined him on the podium in second and third.

Speaking in Red Bull's Singapore Grand Prix Preview, Perez explained:

"I am looking forward to going back to Singapore, last season was probably one of the best races of my career. \

"It was such a hard one to navigate, with the heat, the track conditions and the concentration that is required around a street circuit.

"Of course, I would love to repeat the win but it will be tricky, the new track layout is going to make things quicker in sector three and there will be rain, so it could be fun!"

Perez went on to discuss the milestone, which he is bringing a special helmet design to celebrate, commenting:

"This weekend is my 250th race in Formula One and I never would have imagined I would race an F1 car that many times when I started my career.

"It has been a dream and I am proud to have represented Mexico all over the world for this many years and I would love to give them another win this Sunday.

"I have a one-off helmet to mark the moment and I think it's going to look very special under the lights at night."
