F1 News: Toto Wolff Comments On His Headphone Fury - "I've Broken A Few"

The focus of this contention cantered on lap 37, where Verstappen, after instructions to give his position back to Hamilton, looked to slowed down, resulting in a collision between the two. This incident sparked an immediate reaction from Hamilton, who accused Verstappen of "brake testing" him over the team radio. In defence, Red Bull stated their intent was merely to allow Hamilton to reclaim his position.

While the track witnessed high drama, in the garages, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff added to the spectacle. Cameras captured Wolff in a state of visible fury, fervently shouting at his monitor and subsequently throwing his headphones onto his desk in frustration in his now-traditional move.
Wolff, known for occasionally destroying his headphones, gave further insight into the Jeddah incident in a TikTok Q&A session. When quizzed about the number of headphones he has damaged over the years, the 51-year-old Austrian humorously remarked:
"I've broken a few [sets of headphones], but the only one I really terminated was in Saudi Arabia 2021."
Fast forward to 2023, the dynamics in the championship have shifted dramatically. Wolff and Mercedes have had a calmer season, mainly because of the widened gap between Mercedes and current leaders, Red Bull. Current statistics underline this change, with Verstappen holding a significant lead of 166 points over Hamilton. Moreover, Red Bull Racing stands a formidable 256 points ahead of Mercedes in the race for the constructors' championship. Although with half a season left, there's still time for changes to come.
