Mercedes CEO and team principal Toto Wolff was seen on camera gesturing dodgy steering after a close call between Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in the pit lane during the Canadian Grand Prix, and fans are going crazy for it.

Both drivers entered the pits to make the most of the safety car caused by George Russell's crash during the race in Montreal. At that point, Hamilton was sitting in second and Alonso in third so the former was eager to retain his race position. The British driver was released from his pit stop just in time but Alonso had to steer out of the way in the pit lane to avoid a collision.

The move was investigated by the stewards who determined that no further action was necessary. Fans could see the moment when Wolff seemed to make a joke about Alonso complaining about Hamilton which has been flooding social media since.

One fan posted the footage, captioning the video:

"He is the funniest guy ever"

Others picked up on Mercedes reserve driver Mick Schumacher in the background who seems completely unfazed by the hilarious moment. Another fan commented:

"Mick so serious behind him makes it even funnier"

Someone else found the likeness to the famous moment when four-time champion Sebastian Vettel made a similar move when he appeared on Top Gear in 2011. The fan posted:

Although Hamilton kept his position from the pit stop, he was eventually overtaken by the Spanish driver and finished the race in third position.
